The bench

Crochet Flower Garland Blue - now for sale in my ETSY shop. Welcome!
There is no other place I rather be right now than sitting here on the bench with my crochet and the sun spreading its light over my garden. After months of darkness and cold weather being stuck inside, it is pure bliss to be outside.

After lunch I can lean back and get some sun on my nose listening to happy kids playing. After 3pm a the yellow tree (makes me feel very Swedish with the yellow blooms against the blue bird sky...) makes for a comfortable shade for some hooking.

I could sit here for hours... if it wasn't for dinners to be made, laundry to be hung or house chores to get done... Bills to be paid, phone calls to be answered or kids to be comforted after they fall off the swing... I count my precious bench moments carefully. This is a happy place. Everyone should have a special happy place... or many. Do you have one?

Annette

  1. I love to sit at the top of my garden (makes it sound very grand but it is only quite small) with a tray of tea in my own little teapot, watching the birds, listening to the pootle of canal boats going by on the canal behind and - of course - some woolly nonsense to keep me busy! (Although your bench looks pretty darned perfect!)x Jane

  2. I do love a good garden bench- I have one I eat breakfast on, in the sun. One to eat my lunch on, in the sun. And one to drink a glass of wine in the evening, in the setting sun! I'm not really greedy, just like my food, the sun and of course...my benches! :) x

  3. What a lovely place to sit and stitch! I have many happy places like that, here around our home. In fact, I have a glider on my front porch that is very like the bench you show. Mine is very old, and has seen many hours of lovely sights from that spot!!!
    Hugs,
    Kris

  4. Beautiful images and love the Yellow tree. You had me all relaxed just looking at that bench and all the beautiful wool. There is nothing more wonderful than having a special place to sit and work and like you I have a bench (in dying need of painting) that I can sit on and crochet, its bliss. I am yet to have a moment to actually sit on it though. xxx

  7. What a colourful world you live in.

My special happy place is my conservatory, just need sunshine. If it gets too warm I can open the door. The light inside is just wonderful for crafting.

  9. Hi, Annette! I understand your happiness ... the same happens to me! I spend hours on the wooden bank of the terrace ...and hours weaving on the bed in the room there where it touches the warmth and sunshine after lunch ... but as you say very well, there are always things to do ... When I take my baby sleep ... are my moments ... like when I 'am writing this comment .... My daughter sleeps peacefully and healthy and I enjoy knowing that she is well ... thanks for sharing these beautiful moments ... I wish that all your children and all the people that you love are good ... a big hug from Catalonia ...

  14. What a beautiful bench, I'm with you, sitting on the bench outside is one of my favourite places to be too. No chance of it this week it seems, but hopefully I'll be out there again soon. I love your bright yellow explosion in the garden. It's something I don't have much of in mine. Time to remedy that I think!

  17. Hej Annette

  19. It is a shame that life has so many things we have to do, that interrupt our precious peaceful times. I love your bench and feel that way about my new swing.

  21. My happy place is a wooden swing seat in my patio garden. When it's sunny I put the cushion on there and have my hot chocolate and just relax.... But only for a few minutes because children or dogs always want something!
