CROCHET TIP:
How To Crochet Into The Back Of A Foundation Chain

I wanted to share some of my favorite crochet tips and tricks with you. Things I've learned and discovered through the years. Simple tweaks that gives your crochet that little extra neatness and sleekness. So my first Crochet Tip is: How To Crochet Into The Back Of A Foundation Chain.

Very often do we start a project from a straight and simple foundation chain made up from a few up to many, many chain stitches. As a beginner we usually learn how to crochet into a foundation chain from the front of the chain as this is a more easy way of starting a project on i.e a blanket. This works, of course, but for a more smooth and stable start, I personally prefer to work my first row into the back of the foundation chain.

Crochet into the FRONT of a foundation chain
The front of your crocheted foundation chain looks like a row of lying V's. For a beginner it is very easy to see where to insert your hook and it is a quick and easy way of making your first row on a project. The edge becomes straight but lacks a bit of stability.

Crochet into the BACK of a foundation chain
To crochet into the back of your foundation chain you have to turn your chain upside down. The back looks like a row of bumps. This technique needs a bit more effort from the hand holding the hook. You insert the hook into the bump to make your stitch, and a nice and neat edge with stability and strength is made.

When looking at the bottom of your stitch, you can see that it has a nice a stable V structure just like the top of the stitch has. Isn't that neat?

I hope this Crochet Tip was helpful and I wish you Happy Crocheting, until next time!

Those cute little kittens...

Bed sheet from IKEA many years ago,  kittens from a farmer, cute girl is mine. :)
Happiness is to wake up with the kittens in bed. At least that is what Emmy Bo says. And it sure is nice that our kittens are so friendly and open to cuddles. Not all cats are.

Today Izzy and Maya are almost 6 months old. They escape outside all the time, dying to become outdoor adventurers. Today they sneaked out when I turned my back. Izzy has come back but I haven't seen Maya in over an hour. I've walked the block shaking the food box and calling for her but no... I wonder if we lost her. I hope to God we haven't. Cross fingers she will come back. I just don't know if I can take loosing one more cat...

NOTE: Maya suddenly showed up on the window sill after a 2 hour adventure outdoors. She was given treats for being such a good girl finding her way back and later she crashed hard on my bed, exhausted after her outing. All good... :)

One of those moments

Fields of purple. I just have to stop. I walk outside and make my way into the field. It smells divine. Sugary sweet.

Phacelia, a heavy nectar producer adored by honey bees. Gorgeously purple, looking a bit like a thistle but with rather delicate features. I'm in love.

I kneel down and let the field cover me like a blanket. I look over the fields and I can see all the way to Geneva and the water fountain at the beach front. I can spot the tip of Mount Blanc in France behind the clouds. I stay here for a while and breath in the sweet fragrance, close my eyes and take it all in. I have to get going. Back home to make dinner for my darling kids. I'm so glad I stopped. It is the moments that counts in life.
