Almost finishing something...

Sunshine and lovely weather arrived and I decided to spend the day in the garden weeding and working on the borders and finishing touches of my second Scrappy Happy V-stitch Blanket during coffee breaks. The coffee breaks were many and quite long each time (twink!)... the weeding was done half-hearted and with no major progress I'm afraid... Showing you my lack of commitment to the chore makes me want to hide in shame... I promise to share some progress soon... I know... boring jobs needs to be done too.

Anyway, lets get back to that blanket (which looks hundred times better than my garden!!!). This blanket is made in low volume colors. I call it that because most of the colors are very light pastels, neutrals and whites, only with a few accent colors to get a feel of a Swedish rag rug. A total contrast to the my other blanket which was bright and vibrant. I will tell you more about my colors choices when I'm finished with my blanket, and go more into details of how I think when choosing a color theme.

I'm so excited to finally finish this summery version of the Scrappy Happy V-stitch Blanket. This project has been sleeping in a basket for quite some time as I've been busy with other things. It will be a perfect addition to my summer living room. Or maybe, just maybe, I'll bring it to the summer house to Sweden. But I might just love it to much to leave it there...

Happiness is...

... when you find morels in your own garden.
... laundry flapping in the wind on a sunny day.
... smelling the lilacs.
... sitting outside the back of the house, making a mess and fixing the motorcycle in only shorts.
... watching and hearing the cows on the hill behind the house.
... riding your BMX to and from school when you are 11 almost 12.
... filling the table outside with BBQ goodies just dying to sit down and dig in.
... watching my girl and her best friend playing with Pet Shops for hours outside.
... photo bombing Mama's photos when you are 8 almost 9.

Happiness is when the sun comes out for real for the first time after a long, wet and cold winter. When shoes and socks are taken off and you wiggle your pale toes in the soft green grass. When the sun is so strong and hot, you wish the local outdoor pool was open but it isn't. Last weekend was magical. I wish for many more just like that.

Cow love

The cows arrived last week. No they are playing their cow bell symphony day and night. WE love it! They are young cows and the day they arrived (I heard them come up our road!!!) I ran outside to snap some pictures of their happy jumps and runs across the field. They are totally bonkers this year I have to say, sprinting up and down the hill. I love cows... They are so pretty. Big eyes, long eye lashes, pink noses, beautiful maroon brown and creamy white. Fluffy ears. Have you ever thought about what a cow really looks like?

The other day I was putting up laundry outside and heard my husband call out from the kitchen window:
"No! You can't put the laundry there. If you do I can't see the cows." 
We all love having them around. Watching them, hearing them... They make us feel one with nature. I feel lucky to have them so close to our home. I feel lucky that they are a part of my children's lives and will be a fond memory form their childhood when they grow up. I feel lucky to live in the country. Yeah... I'm a country girl inside and out. Wouldn't swap it to a big city ever.
