A dream of a flower garden

I am the worst flower keeper without exaggeration. Everything green and flowery dies when I walk by. This is why Geraniums are the only flowers I dare to have, as they are so hardy and can survive my terrible lack of the right type of care and love. They flower even though I forget to water them for days and sometimes weeks. They sprout even though I forget to nip off bloomed out flower crowns and large leaves from the stems. They hardly ever survive over winter and come spring I  always buy new and pretty ones for my window sills.

As a flower killer I suffer because I love flowers! I dream of a wonderful flower garden with wild and beautiful flowers of all kinds. I want flower beds with perennials in big groups, big enough to be picked and brought into the house and put in a vase. I want flowers from early spring until late autumn in all shapes, heights and sizes. But I have no idea where to start. Internet is a good place to start... To collect inspiration and information and maybe, just maybe, I will be able to create a lovely flower garden for next year. Until then I keep on dreaming of blue bells, daisies and lupin flowers. Forget-me-nots, zinnias, echinacea, aquilegia and a many other beautiful flowers to color my back yard. I want it wild...

Pictures found on Internet and here.

  2. Take your time dear heart... Start out slowly. You have to be devoted to your Garden... I hear it in your words you have the love.. But a Garden needs often visits and mainance so read about about the flowers for your zone visit a near by nursery talk to them about the flowers for your area. Figure out what has the most sun in your Garden where the shade is. Observe your area as well.. Rosrs need six hours of sun. Etc.. Get a diary or plant book and write your info inside. Start with a small area then grow as you learn... I hope this helps a little bit.. You will be a great gardener in no time love is a big part.. Caring for your Garden is like caring for a baby in a sense... Happy Sunday with love Janice

  6. ooo it's nice to dream of a flower garden! i do all the time! i have flowers, not very many & they usually perform beautifully the first year but not so good the next & kind of get worse as the years go on, i let all things self seed as that's how they should be but have realized that my soil is lacking & this year have started adding to it to give it a boost.

  7. Hej, Annette,
it is so easy to make a garden like you wish: Prepare only a little patch of your garden (for the first try), mix grass seeds and all the flowerseeds you want like above. Put it in your patch, water it sometimes and you will have a wonderful colorful meadow. You only need to cut the grass and the flowers when the seeds of the flowers were ripe and fall out on the ground. Then you will have nearly the same meadow like before in the next year. I did it last year and my meadow was so lovely this year.

I wish you success with it. You can do it!!!!

    Have a good day.

  8. Lupins, Aquilegias, Forget-me-nots and many other cottage garden flowers are great at self-seeding so you can just let them do their own thing! You soon get to recognise the new seedlings so you don't weed them out. Good luck!
