And I thought this would be easy... I mean my Nordic Shawl is pretty basic and straight forward but to write it out as a pattern... That is a different story. But I am getting there.
Today I am tackling the border and as I improvised this border I don't have any source to go to... It is just to sit down, unravel a test swatch of it to see how on earth I made this happen, and then do it all over again. Not a boring job, just time consuming and actually - if I could do this for a living I would be the happiest girl in the world!
Now the most fun part remains. The crochet test of the pattern. I have prepared another shawl ready to go for the mixed stitches part. I am sooo loving and enjoying this job. Maybe I could become a pattern test crocheter full time... Wouldn't that be a great job?
Happy Sunday darlings!
Kärlek
Annette

Jag har försökt få ner mönster på papper några gånger och det är verkligen inte lätt att få till det. Fattar egentlgen nte varför, men jag lyckas aldrig.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of patterns for sale on Etsy, and writing them was really hard. Things that are intuitive when you're crocheting, like which is the first stitch that you want to skip if you're starting a row with a chain 2, are so difficult to make clear in writing. I find photos help. I've also looked around for a program that would let me diagram in symbols, but I couldn't find any that I understood how to work. Once or twice I've had to give up on writing a pattern because for the life of me, I couldn't remember how I had made the thing. More power to you, and good luck.
ReplyDeleteI totally adore this shawl Annette. One of the prettiest i've ever seen! I'm definitely going to be first in line to purchase the pattern when you're done! ha ha! I wing everything, so pattern writing for me is definitely a no no....i'd be so rubbish at it, not to mention frustrated!
ReplyDeleteTake care my lovely xxx
love the colours, and yes that would be great, I am totally with you on the design and testing job! Have a great week my friend xo
ReplyDeleteLove the colours you have used, would like to have a go at making my own pattern too, look forward to see how you develop this proses.
ReplyDeleteYour work is just beautiful I keep coming back and you are so talented.
ReplyDeleteI would have big problems writing about crocheting because I am still a novice but getting better. It would be a dream job for me too I love crocheting much better than knitting. I just had surgery on my left hand with my thumb so have to wait till I can pick it up again.counting the days.

I am passionately crazy about shawls, and your Nordic Shawl is a standout! I can't wait until payday so that I can purchase your pattern and make one for myself! I also think your use and choice of colors in your finished shawl are brilliant, and give it what I would call a 'Nordic feeling'! A perfect name for your lovely shawl! Beautiful job! You should be very proud.
