My Rose Valley Home 2013

What did we talk about the most in 2013? I would say - The Weather!!! The weather was unpredictable, weird and completely out of place at times. It was the coldest and most rainy year in 200 years here in Switzerland. We had a terrible hale storm in June which made the harvest of fruit and berries very poor. I have never seen so many misty mornings both in spring and fall. Those mornings are magical and almost a bit freaky as you never know what is hiding around the corner...

The summer came. Late. And then summer was over before we realized it just had started. I did my best to collect memories through picture taking and picking wild flowers, one of my favorite things in summer time. I wish for a great warm spring and summer for next year. And a great summer for our vegetable patch. Like it used to be before this funny weather started. Did you have weather out of the normal too I wonder...

Summer passed and fall came with storms and rain. And suddenly the much longed for December was right there and I could start the Christmas preparation. Snow came. And disappeared. And December was way to short for all my Christmas prep plans. Like always. Maybe next year I will start in August and get ready in time.

Well, 2013 was weird and different but still very special with family vacation and fun times in Sweden. Lets hope for a more stable weather in 2014 shall we.

  2. The weather always seems to be very unpredictable....our seasons in the UK all seemed to have moved.....so we are having winter weather well into May and it knocks all the rest of the seasons out! Hoping 2014 will be a little bit drier!

  3. I agree that 2013 was strange in its seasons and the garden and wildlife were very confused this year. Hopefully next year everything will be back to normal. Have a happy New year x

  4. It's been a bit strange here in Pennsylvania, too with winter snow and bitter cold coming much too early. I love your pictures. You live in such beauty! Have a blessed New year!

  5. Our weather here was extra hot, and frankly still is. I'd like a bit of coolness before we jump into Spring. Happy New Year.

  6. Why do blogs do reviews? A blog is a log of all that happened so we already know and we can revisit at any time from the archives as can the blogger. We are now having to see endless reviews of flowers, views from windows and no doubt crochet and everything else getting its turn over never-ending series of blog posts. It is really dull as we have already seen it. Not sure of the appeal in doing it either, as the blogger is just repeating themselves and duplicating. Endless recapping is so unnecessary. I am so glad yours is short and sweet and therefore not boring! I do enjoy your blog very much, thank you. I enjoy the blogs I read, so look forward to new posts but am disappointed when I see all the old stuff at this time of year! There is just so much of it. Same goes for TV reviews and any other kind. I personally just don't feel the need, yet feel inundated by people looking backwards instead of forwards.

  8. happy new year Annette! I agree the weather has changed, it doesn't seem to be quite what you expect anymore. Although it was frosty today and it's midwinter, it doesn't quite feel like it yet. It may still be to come! anyway lovely to here about your life in Sweden, Heather x
