My side of the bed is messy and warm. His side is untouched, flat and cold. He is away on a trip. I am home alone. The bed feels big. Too big. Going to bed is the hardest thing when he is not here...
I could take my chance to stretch out and make it all mine, but I am too used to sleep on my side. Under my blanket and on my pillow, with my foot resting outside the edge... Knowing he is right there beside me.
It is lonely to go to bed alone. I could invite a little cuddly child to sleep next to me, but they are actually very happy to sleep in their own beds now. So typical...
I love my messy bed. It looks cozy and inviting. At the same time, I am the kind of girl who can't go to bed in an undone bed. So even if it is only me here now, in the big BIG bed, I do make my bed every day. Nice and neat with pillows and Grandma Eivor's crochet blanket at the foot end. That is a must. Every day, all year around.
I think the bedroom is my favorite place in the house... The light is fabulous, the floor is real. I have the Dala horse, the homemade pillows and quilts... This room is very much Scandinavian Homespun to me. Just the way I like it. I would love to add a head board to the bed, handmade from planks. I would like to crochet cute lace skirts for the lampshades, add some practical hooks on the wall for my jeans and my pj's... Maybe I should just "do it"...
Soon it won't be just my side of the bed that is left messy in the morning. Soon he will be back and fill up the empty space beside me. And the loneliness will go. That feels good to know. The last few day's of loneliness is only temporary. It is good to miss the one you love.
Kärlek
Annette
I chuckle when reading this because due to my husband's snoring and disturbing sleep movements, I actually sleep in the guest room to get a good night's sleep.
ReplyDeleteOh Annette I hate it when Mr K is away - fortunately it's not too often but I go through exactly the same feelings as you. I think it proves that those old flames are still burning strong! Your bed looks like the perfect place to snuggle up - especially with the lovely crochet blanket. Sleep well x Jane
ReplyDeleteDet är lite nyttigt o känna längtan lite då o då!

I hope that your other side of the bed is reoccupied very soon! xx
ReplyDeleteMy side of the bed is often empty as my husband works funny shifts. He went to work tonight and won't be back till Saturday morning. However I do have my little faithful Rosie dog to keep me company. Soon we will both be lying in bed together as he is finally retiring, roll on April.
ReplyDeleteThank for very personal post, soon he arives, have a good day, ania
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, i don't like to sleep alone in our bed, and sometimes i ask my son but then he says, no mam, i am a big boy,i sleep in my own bed.I hope for you he's gonna be back soon!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Always

Ahh but at least you have the kids to keep you company, when I'm on my own I have to barricade myself in my bedroom because my mind works overtime!!
ReplyDeleteI have recently begun to make my bed in the morning...but you make the messy bed look good!
Happy weekend whatever you get up too!

ReplyDeleteCrocheting always makes time go (too) fast! :)
ReplyDeletePrecioso blog. Tan fresco y alegre.
ReplyDeleteMy man works nights 5 days a week and I find it very difficult to nod off when he's not there , but the ironic thing is that when he is there I am just about used to sleeping alone so then have trouble getting to sleep cos he IS there .......
ReplyDeleteFor your headboard, I love shabby, rustic touches also and what I use is an old 5 panel door turned sideways. My husband screwed blocks of 2x4 to the wall, then the door to them. It works wonderfully and everyone that sees it, loves it! I thought of it as soon as you mentioned the planks! Just an idea for you! Your bed IS cozy!
ReplyDeleteI sure do know how you feel, as my husband is away on business right now too. I hate it when he is gone!!
ReplyDeleteLove your cozy room!
