Project Studio Make Over - The beginning

Have you ever started a project and once you've started all your energy goes dead and you can't bare to continue... To finish... Not knowing where to actually "start to continue"...

That is pretty much what happened to me when I, with huge excitement and lots of energy,  packed all my bits and pieces in my studio into boxes and bags to clear the space as I decided to do a make over... Bad idea! Very bad idea... I should have just done a good tidy up.

Well, well... Somehow this project will be finished and I am hoping that it will be an inspiring place to escape to within the next week or so. After all furniture are in place, new book shelves are purchased and assembled and all the bits and bobs are sorted in their own little space.

I'm putting my head down and I'm going to do this. Even if every part of my body feels exhausted just by looking at the half dozen boxes filled with everything from beads to fabric, yarn to buttons, scissors to Washi tape and a million other things... Just things! I am for sure a collector of crafty stuff I have realised...

Wish me luck because I need it (Can you see me swipe my forehead with the back of my hand to get rid of those sweat pearls of stress???). I'll show you the result when I'm done. Now, lets tackle one box at the time...

Kärlek
Annette

  1. Vad modig du är! Jag skulle behöva göra detsamma med min klädkammare...men jag har inte lyckats samla ihop tillräckligt med energi/mod/ork än. Lycka till!

  3. I wish you luck! Some weeks ago I decided to sort all my beads again. I give workshops, so you may understand how many beads I have. Oh no, that's not the right place for this bead. This should be in another box, etcetera. Enthusiastically began, after a while I was afraid of going mad from all those beads ...
But I finished my project, and I'm sure you will do!!

  8. I feel your pain! I've recently claimed our spare bedroom for my craft room (lucky me :), I've found homes for stuff but it's not very organized, but I know to make it better I probably need to make a mess again first!

  11. I remember that feeling. I had a clear out and tidy of my craft space last year. Once I'd emptied the drawers and cupboards the contents seemed to have at least doubled. How an earth did everything fit in? It was worth it in the end. I have a much nicer creative space. Good luck. X

  12. Keep going. The good thing about a grand tidy like this is that you will find things you had forgotten you had. Looking forward to seeing the finished room.

  13. You can do it! Just tackle one box at a time, don't feel that you have to rush, and - this is the most important part - stop and reward yourself with some chocolate or cookies after each box! ;-) Chrissie x

  14. You can do this! Yes it looks daunting and I completely understand but tackle a small section/area at once and write a list. Take your time and push yourself through it. The result will be worth it. X

  15. Ooh I absolutely love a jolly good sort-out. It's so good for the soul.

Last time I had a craft room purge, I set aside a box for the children's school - the art department is always grateful for beads, fabric, wool, wooden shapes, etc - it helped me be a bit more ruthless knowing that they were going to be used and enjoyed by the children.

I adore that fabric on the left of your bottom picture. (I'm not helping, am I?!)

  16. Good luck to you!! :) I am going to do the same from this month end because I am shifting to a new home where I have created a separate craft space:)

  17. I am sure you will achieve a great result, I think Pink Milks idea is really good as one always finds stuff one will prpbably never use, and to donate to a kindergarten or school craft room is a great idea. Best wishes, looking forward to seeing the finished result Cilla Rule

  19. Me too!!!!!! Sorry, also not helping...like I tell my kids, one thing at a time! I know, I know, easier said than done. I always thought it would be fun ( on some other planet where we are all close by each other) to have a group of friends get together and take turns, first helping one of us, then helping the next, and so on. We would have fun and get it done too!!! Maybe one day... :)

  22. I am sure that it will be worth it in the end and that you will love your new space, but it is indeed horrible doing the bit in the middle, it seems to get worse before it gets better, but it will be worth it, it really will! xx
