Reflections on a sunny morning

We have had some nice and sunny days lately and the light is extremely beautiful on a January morning. At night I sit and crochet and listen to all the family activity around me; Nelly Bo playing the piano and singing, Emmy Bo humming and playing with her toys, Luca making airplane sounds while landing his model airplanes on the temporary (more likely to become permanent if he could choose) landing run made on the coffee table. All accompanied by quiet TV in the background and a husband cooking in the kitchen. Phones are ringing and cats wants to get in and out of windows. It's a lot going on here.

I'm very sensitive to noise and it can get to me at times, especially when I'm stressed. But sitting there in all this noise, relaxed and comfortable and tuning it all in, I can feel the love we have in our messy and hyperactive home. It is the greatest place to be and I will miss the sound of Nelly Bo's fingers dancing over those piano keys one day. And I will miss Emmy Bo's small villages of pastel plastic toys that are being created and spread out on floors, window sills and tables all around. And I will miss the typical boy noise from an 11 year old dreaming his way to a model airplane cockpit and showing me every little accomplishment in his engineering of a new, larger Lego airplane he is making.

Although last week was a very intense week, releasing my Scrappy Happy V-stitch Pattern and all, I feel so relaxed and in control of my life for the moment. I used to always feel like I was one step behind and reality is that I am MANY steps behind, but when I decided to accept that and move forward with one thing at the time I found piece within that thought. It's okay to be where I am today. We are good here. I know where I am going. I know what I want. And I'm so grateful to all of you supporting  me, purchasing my patterns, cheering me on in good and bad. You rock my world and make everything possible. I might not respond to each and everyone of you but I want you to know that every single word left in my comment field is sincerely read and appreciated. A big THANK YOU to all of you. I wish you a wonderful weekend and hope you too will have magical mornings of reflection with beautiful sunlight, just like me.  I hope you too can feel the love. Life is good.

  5. Such a sweet post. It always makes me happy to see mom's loving and appreciating the noises and activity around them. Our house is now a quiet one. The children all grown and gone. I remember wishing for a little bit of peace and quiet when they were younger and now all I want to do is hear that noise once again . Happy Sunday.
    Blessings, Betsy

  9. This post makes me grin! I do love that happy hubbub of the family noise. Ours generally is a fairly quiet noise really, with just one child in the house. But to be fair, she does talk, a lot! It's just one of my favourite things when she and Daddy are just chattering away and playing. (Especially, if I'm crocheting or knitting at the time!)
