Before Christmas

I was working hard on my secret project before Christmas. Sweating away using a new quilting technique, stitching in the ditch, on this quilt for my brother and his wife to be. The fact that I in the last minute found out that they were arriving a day earlier than I had planned for (HELP!) added of course some pressure to it all.

Stitching in the ditch is when you quilt in your pieced seams. Not an easy task for a beginner like me and half way through (why didn't I do my homework better???) I sat down to surf for advice on how to make it easier. There are several movies on this topic on YouTube, many tutorials in blogland etcetera, and I realized that the clever quilter (I am right now NOT a clever quilter) uses invisible thread to hide seams that does not get hidden in "the ditch". Well, I used natural coloured thread and I will for sure use invisible thread next time as I didn't do to well in places.

After all, this is a handmade quilt (the picture shows a successful stitch in the ditch - yeah!) and once it was finished I was very VERY happy with it. Keep tuned as I am preparing a potpurri of pictures of this first BIG quilt of mine.

And by the way, hope you all had a wonderful cheerful Christmas. I did. My brother left yesterday and things are slowly going back to normal around here. As much as I love Christmas I also love when it is over. It is kind of a relief and it feels like a great opportunity to start fresh with pretty much everthing. Clean the house, start a new project, eat more light, organize things in cupboards and closets, set up new rules for an easier living, start exercising... So I am cleaning the house, and will soon post on my Thomas & Linda Quilt.

Ciao!

  1. Hej

    Kram
