Easter twig yarn love

Easter twigs. Easter bouquet. Easter tree. I am not sure of what you call it. In Swedish we call it Påskris [posk]. If there is anything I need for Easter week it is a bunch of pretty twigs snipped off a spring tree with decorations in. This is my tradition of Easter. Preferably with colorful feathers in, Swedish style, but this year I had another idea...

I am not great at decorating for Easter I have to admit but when Emmy Bo the other morning wondered "When are we gonna decorate for Easter Mama?" I thought to myself that maybe this is important to my kids. Luckily they had 50% off the whole Easter decoration department at Coop when I went to buy our groceries and I came home with some cute things. A wreath for my door (love it!!!) a Mr Bunny for our ugly mailbox and colors to play with egg painting this weekend.

But, after all it is the Easter tree, the påskris,  that makes my heart feel hope for life this time of the year. I found my twigs on my walk, secretly snipped some of the best twigs off a whimsical small hedgy tree that I think has apple blossoms... I so hope they have apple blossoms... I prepared my small mini flowers, added beads and loops to them, added some pink cute Easter eggs and then I wrapped up some of the delicate twigs with some colorful yarn. Be careful with the buds doing this, if you fancy a try, as I am hoping these buds will turn into both springy leaves and apple blossoms soon. I am curious to see what it looks like in a week or two...

So do you have a Easter tree? What do you call yours in your language? And do you decorate like crazy or not for this holiday?

Do you want to add some crochet mini flowers to your tree as well? Stay tuned, it has taken a while to prepare but the tutorial will be posted very VERY soon.

Happy Wednesday

  1. We in Finland have a tradition that little witches go around telling little poems and giving decorated twigs. In return they get candies.

Of course we do decorate. Not a tree, but twigs, eggs, bunnies and birds. Twigs are called "virpomisoksa" in Finnish.

    Have a nice Easter time!

  2. I love your Easter tree (that's what I call it too!) and your Maybelle Flower hangings. What a cute idea, to twist colourful yarn around some of the branches! I like the colourful hanging eggs too! Your wreath is nice with the sweet bunny!
I already bought some branches for my tree. The label said: "cherry blossom", so I'm hoping for some pretty pink blossoms. I'm decorating my tree tomorrow when my work week is over. I haven't had time for anything much since my return from England last weekend.
Looking forward to your mini crocheted flowers tutorial!
I just love Easter, don't you?!

  6. So lovely. I just call mine an Easter Tree and I bought it from William Somona. I like the idea of one made with real twigs better.

  7. I have made an Easter tree for the first time this year and I'm hoping the blossom will appear soon too. I am in love with our 'new' family tradition and can imagine making different decorations for it each year, at the moment its crochet eggs!

  11. I love the tree, it looks soo pretty and especially with the yarn wrapped around, good idea. I usually do the same thing for Easter and Christmas as I think it looks lovely, but this year we are leaving the country for Easter and I have decided to focus on other projects instead (and I kinda feel guilty). Very cute wreath! Hannapatxxx
