My garden is green and lush. Explored and enjoyed by cats and Nelly Bo has found her way to my favorite spot to occupy the bench with a good read. The sand pit is gone, the kids have grown out of sand pit fun. The swings in the Apple tree have stayed for a casual swing every now and then.
We bought a trampoline... We resisted for so many years. Where would we put such a big thing? Would it disturb the views? Well, our garden is quite big and we placed it in the far back of it, and yes it does intrude on the views a bit but the kids are having so much fun on it, I find it well worth it. Maybe we actually should have gotten it years ago. Already hours have been spent on it jumping and doing tricks.
As the spring was so wet and cold, it has taken me a long time to weed and tidy my flower beds. But now it is done and I'm excited for my flowers starting to bloom. I mostly have Phlox, Asters and Lavender. I have added some Cosmos and Dianthus. Cosmos is probably by far one of my favorites. My neighbor's bees and our cats love the big wild grown Cat Mint plant underneath our yellow tree by the shed. I adore it too... It has a sweet minty fragrance and the flowers makes a great addition to any wild flower bouquet.
Our kitchen garden is not doing very well. The growing boxes are still gaping empty with just a few baby sprouts showing here and there. I'm not sure we will have that much vegetables at all this year. Only time will tell. Salads are doing good, but the rest is really suffering. I think it is the enormous amount of rain and the cold weather that has caused the delay in our otherwise so fruitful veggie garden.
Izzy is enjoying the warm stones, stretching out in the sun and grooming herself a bit in between throwing sharp hunting eyes across the garden. Our new cat girls are real hunters, dragging home anything from birds and lizards to field mice and bugs... It breaks our hearts but what can one do? They are wild animals even though they are pets. We still love them dearly and after letting them up in the attic, the noise from house mice has disappeared as well.. I guess that is good. :)

Your garden looks lovely Annette. We haven't really felt any warmth here in the uk, summer just doesn't seem to be happening for us, and yes it does delay the veg patch :) xxx
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo's, so peaceful and you garden looks like a great place to escape to.
ReplyDeleteLindo jardim. Que fofo esse gatinho.
ReplyDeleteTenha uma ótima semana.
Fabulous pictures! I like your cat and it must be wonderful to read a book on that bench.
ReplyDeleteI also like cosmos, but I forgot to sow them. Those flowers are so big and great, in pink and white.
Enjoy your garden, overhere still lots of weeding to do...
Have a nice day,
Sigrid
What great space you have in your backyard. Our neighbor has outdoor cats that are feral hunters. They've left surprises on our property at least three or four times. Funny enough, they've never left any on my neighbor's.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely and that's a great pic of Nelly Bo too! The weeding is a job I haven't got to yet, the garden's looking a bit wild this year! Our cat is a real hunter too, there is often a present waiting in the morning for us. Still, he's caught a mole before now and I can't say I was unhappy about that one as they dig up our garden terribly!

Lovely photos Annette. I particularly like the flower bed, so colourful and crisp looking. Its nice to see your daughter enjoying reading in the fresh air instead of being glued to the internet indoors like my grandchildren. And as for Izzy well she is adorable and seems to know exactly the best places to be. x
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so peaceful. Its monsoon here, we are waiting for the sun.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! The best of times, lazy summer days.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are as beautiful as the articles are xx
