When the bed sheets are changed into Christmassy red ones, preferable with a plaid pattern and purchased at IKEA (Who doesn't love IKEA??? - put your hand in the air! I see NO hands... Twink...), then you know Christmas is already here. I love how changing bed sheets with seasons can make all the difference in the world...
The mornings have been absolutely glorious lately (between 7am until 7.20am) and one sun rise after another has really blown my mind away. Thursday morning I dropped off Jay at the airport as he is going back to Mustique in the Caribbean, to work during the holidays. Last year we had the great privilege of coming with him and it was one of our most fantastic adventures (see this, this and this blog post...), but this year we have other plans and that includes me being a "Single Mum" for a good 2 weeks (take a deep breath...).
The first thing I do is to invite Emmy Bo to sleep next to me in the big bed. And she jumps on the opportunity. And just to let you know, I did invite Luca Bo and Nelly Bo too, but they have reached an age when they prefer their own nests... I know... Kids grow up. They actually do.
Emmy Bo is a snuggle kind of girl, and often I wake up at night with her little legs wrapped up in mine, or toes touching toes. It is a good feeling. I'm really enjoying her "sleep overs" as I know they will soon come to an end... She is the youngest. I watch her leg sticking out, her hair being tossed over the pillow and how she holds her Ping Ping in a sturdy grip throughout the night. This is special. This is a blessing. Moments like this are to be treasured forever and ever.

Your Christmas bed is wonderful. Cozy red and white and very festive. And yes, I do love IKEA! :-) My husband has also traveled with work throughout our marriage and it was always wonderful to have some of the kids crawl in bed with me and snuggle. A special treat for them and for me. They are all too big to do that anymore, and I miss it. But I guess that is what grandkids are for now. :-)

ReplyDeleteHi Annette, Your Christmas bed looks very, very cosy! You are lucky still having little ones that want to share a bit with you. On a recent weekend away with my daughter I could only find somewhere with a double bed( no twins available) I won't tell you the comments that Hannah made at having to share a bed with her mum!!! Enjoy your sleep overs with Emmy Bo xx

I also like Ikea :) Your bed look wonderful!! Jolana
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. My littlest would happily sleep in my bed as well I think. And maybe the middle one, at a pinch. Your bed looks lovely and seasonal in red. And I adore that last photo, it's absolutely gorgeous. Wishing you a good week Annette. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteFeliz Natal amiguinha!!
ReplyDeleteI like IKEA but don't go there too often. I like your red sheets, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! My girls are 4 and 7 and I am loving and cherishing these snugly days as much as I can! I love your Christmas bed and that is such a great idea to have dedicated bed linens decorate with!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish my girl were that age again, when we could snuggle up in bed. She was a little limpet, which could be uncomfortable at times, but how I would love to experience that again. Make the most of it! Your house looks so Christmassy and cozy, especially your bed. I too have special Christmas bed linen (and it's from Ikea!)which gets put on the beds on Christmas eve.
