I am vintage sheet happy today! This is what I made. In a swisch! A vintage sheet patchwork pillow. Meet Rose Marie! That is her name.
I have a bunch of boring, stained and dirty white pillows in my sofa. And look how much this fresh, crispy, rosy pillow brightens everything up!
Totally brain dead simple. Made from nine 6 inch squares, quilted together with a plain white sheet of fabric (recycled from an old pillow case here at home :D I love recycling!) with straight lines along the seams.
I made an envelope backing (more recycled frabric from that old pillow case of mine - yeay!) and it was so easy, so perfect, so quickly made.
Aaahhh. I love this pillow so much - it makes my childhood happy! Although most of these fabrics are from the States, they do remind me of early 70's in Sweden. Special summers (in Dalarna) with V- jeans walking around on fields covered in high grown grass. Summer flowers in my hair and blue bird skies. Riding my bicycle everywhere. Life was so simple, easy and wonderful. Aaaahhh.
Of course I just HAVE TO make more of these pillows. More to come, be so sure.
PS I like it A LOT when I quilt the patchwork without any batting actually. It falls very nice and feels just heavy enough... Might be something I will do for a bread spread, bed throw that should be... (I am Swedish and sometimes very blond and therefor I am excused to make major mistakes expressing myself, like the above bread spread. Ha ha ha!)
