Nelly wanted to sew something.
– Okay, what do you want to make?
– I want to make what you make.
– Okay, lets have a look in my scrap box for fabric pieces.
Nelly choose gingham prints, added some vintage floral prints and polka dot fabric and started to play on the design wall. Moving it here and there, up and down. Enjoying herself.
I got her started on a couple of pieces, showing her how to line them up and put the pieces in the machine. In no time she was sewing piece by piece and row by row by herself.
She wanted to do the pressing "All by myself Mama!" and I think I was more nervous of this part of the job than the actual sewing... Iron burns can get really nasty... But she did very well. It is going to be a cushion. We finished it this evening but it is to dark for a photo shoot. So Nelly's first patchwork VOILA, has to wait a couple of days. Stay tuned, it is really really pretty!
Ciao!
Annette
Brilliant!!! I LoVe it when you can interest and inspire your children to have a go at what you are doing and just look at how well she has balanced out her colours and prints on the design wall and check out those great 1/4" seams your daughter has sewn! It's going to be a great first patchwork project!
ReplyDeleteI checked out those blogs you recommended - loved the Applique one immensely - right up my street so thanks for letting me know!!
Det skall börjas i tid... :-) Hon har vält och kombinerat väldigt fina tyger, tycker jag.
