The new way of custom ordering - Leg warmers and Instagram

Love and adore my new legwarmers.
At breakfast I see that my highly anticipated custom order of a pair of legwarmers have started. The picture in my feed brings a big smile on my face as I know that this picture, published by a crafty woman in Canada, is published not only for all her IG followers but also for me to see. She has started the make of my legwarmers and I am so excited by what I see. She is making them right now!

Later I eagerly follow her feed to see the progress, watching my legwarmers grow stitch by stitch, row by row... One legwarmer done, another one to go. How her sweet furry dog keeps her company while stitching away with her needles.

I am taking part of weather information, mood while stitching, how the yarn feels on her needles. I am taking part of all the cheerful comments and delightful compliments from other excited IG:ers for this creation that soon is going to be mine.

I have said it before (you remember the fingerless mitts I bought form the same girl???) and I am saying it again. It certainly is something special to order custom made and especially when you can follow the handmade process via social media. It gives that little extra to what you pay for. It makes you realize that this is not just something you picked on a shelf, mass produced in China.

These legwarmers were handmade with love and passion by a wonderful woman across the Atlantic. For me. For me only. No one will ever wear the same beautiful leg warmers as me. They are unique and one of a kind. And if I carefully follow the washing instructions they will be worn by me year after year for I don't know how long. And every single time I will think of Monique at Blueberry Fields knitting them for me, with her dog on her lap keeping her company. Isn't that just fabulous?

  2. You ARE kind. Kind is about coming from the heart and what motivates you to do or say what you do. It isn't the words or the actions so much as the intent. People who have a good heart are the kind people. Talking about it and doing it for appearance are not the same thing. Kind people do get bogged down in life, they do get stressed - in part because they do care and are kind and this impacts. Kind people get angry in life because they care, because they are passionate about things, people and causes. They are not saints, many times they get their hands dirty but it is worth it, to be kind is to be involved and tempers can be lost. People talk about kind but most people are not kind but distant and uninvolved, even if sometimes the right words are used. In fact many are unkind but do the things they do for ego rather than others.

You are a nice person, a good person and a kind person. It comes out all the time in your writings. Kind is about who you are. Also about what you do. When the two match up, then you have a kind person. I love your blog because you are a warm hearted person. Some people fall through the gaps when you read their blogs a while and you see their true motivations and they are not always as good as they appear. No such thing here. You have integrity and kindness already, you don't need to re think or re-invent your self.

Have replied here as Fox's Lane doesn't allow anon comments and I have no web ID. Hope you don't mind.

The leg warmers by the way (to keep on topic) are gorgeous. They are wonderful colours and I hope you enjoy wearing them.

  9. What a beautiful and happy post my dear friend <3 I did not realize exactly how special it could be for the customer to see the evolution of their commission and it really touches me to see the eagerness, the appreciation, the thankfulness you and probbly most lovely ladies feel. On my first commission through IG, i was not sure if i should post progress of the commission or just leave it as a surprise and post only when the piece was done. I have no regrets doing it that way, i have met so many wonderful ladies through my many feeds. So many wonderful comments that touches my heart. Thank you Annette for this wonderful post, i am fillled with many positive emotions when i see so much love and happiness my work can give xoxoxo
