A snow hat in the making...

Of course there should be a Nordic Snow Hat to accompany the Nordic Wrist Warmers and the Nordic Shawl. But my first attempt to this hat ended up slightly to big. Typical me, throwing myself in there and just doing it without calculations or any preparations.

"What a waste of time!" someone super experienced in the design world would probably say... But for me... I chill and learn from my design journey... I have time to get it right. You have time to wait, right? Designs can't be forced. They need to grow and take shape with trial after trial. So, I just have to make another one, tweak a few things to receive a more snug and cool fit. Take away the pom-pom, or leave it? Add ribbing or not? Decisions are to be made. Maybe I'll make 2 ski hats in one? Pattern will come as soon as I get it all right. Follow me on Instagram, @myrosevalley, to stay informed as Instagram is where I usually publish more "pics outside Blogland"-stuff and WiP's.

  2. I just commented on this on IG. Lovely couloirs as always and u think you are right about the design process and we can wait, but perhaps for not too long !!!!! Looking forward to the end result and I think leave the Pom Pom on. Love the speckled effect if all the colours within it. X

  3. Can't you add ribbing to the bottom and fold it up, then the hat will fit. Slouchy hats are the thing now anyway. I like the pom pom but wouldn't wear one if I made it.

    It's lovely colours.

    1. Hi
Hmmm... I am like you. I like the pom pom but would I wear it? I'm not sure. Adding ribbing wouldn't work as it would cover up the multicolored stitches but it is slouchy, maybe it is a slouchy pom pom hat. :)

  7. Love the Pom pom! I always expect the first making to be a little rough.....I call it the prototype. Then I can see what works and what doesn't and take it from there. Learning is never a waste of time, and mistakes are the best teacher!

    1. Hi
Thank you so much. I used IDEAL yarn from Bergere de France. Not sure how much. 1 ball (50g) for the base color and some scraps for the rest.

  12. Hej Anette!

    Kramar!

    1. Hej hej
Vad kul att du tittar in.

Tack!

  14. Hi Annette, I sometimes line my hats with fleece, it makes them really warm and it might fit then. Reversable sounds fun and challenging! good luck Heather X

It is a good idea and I might try it for this one as I don't just want to throw it away or unravel it. Next trial will be better for sure.
