Easter Friday with happy cats

Easter Friday is here and the weather is really grey and cold. We have had cold strong winds for a few days now and spring feels like very far away. We are having somewhat a lazy day. Just walking around in PJs, doing our own things. I have decided to tackle my office and studio. Again. Making a bit of a make over. Again. I always seem to start but never finish. Maybe this time I'm lucky enough to get it done.

I thought I would share some cat updates with you, as many of you have shared your concerns and worries about Izzy regarding the complications after her sterilizing surgery. First of all, THANK YOU for your sweet support. Our cats really hit a soft spot, I can tell form all the messages. We have been incredibly worried and going back and forth to the vet multiple times these last weeks.

It showed that Izzy had torn the membrane open inside her stomach (apparently the vet cuts through skin, fat and a membrane when doing the procedure - 3 different layers that needs to be stitched together after)while chasing the neighbors cat across our garden a couple of days after surgery. The vet had to open her up once more to empty out fat that had leaked in and stitch her up once more. She looks like Frankenstein on her shaved belly, but she is on the mend. Watching her play with her sister Maya in the garden beds outside is pure joy. It is for sure their favorite game for the moment. Hiding, spying, attacking and fighting! Rolling around in the dirt.

Because of all the cat drama we have had lately, we have now discovered a new favorite show on TV as well - The Supervet! Emmy Bo is particularly hooked on the show and watches it every night before going to bed and I have to say it is quite amazing what vets can do nowadays. Our pets are so precious to us and deserve to be treated with great sensitivity and professionalism just like us humans, and that is what this Supervet does. He is bloody amazing!

Anyway, Easter has kind of sneaked up on me and I'm not prepared. We might get some egg painting in and an Easter Egg hunt for the kids but the decorating and all has been neglected this year. Oh well. It is what it is. Kids are happy to be out of school and we are all looking forward to lazy days and 2 weeks of vacation.

Happy Easter everyone. Enjoy! And I hope you can squeeze in some crochet time. I will. And I will try and blog a little bit as well. This space has been a bit neglected lately. Speak soon my lovelies.

  5. For me (Anglican), Easter is a 50-day season of joy, not just a day. There's still time for you to enjoy it, too!

  6. So glad Izzy is healing. I remember when I had both of my cats sterilized and the vet told me that I had to keep them inside for 10 days to allow for healing; he said other cats (outside) could attack them and cause injury. Because they were outside cats, I put them side by side in cages. They were such good girls and they healed quickly, but they were also ready to be turned out when the time came. Happy Easter!

  7. Love the pictures of the cats playing. Simple joys are really the best. Glad Izzy is so much better. Easter is such a time of joy in our home. A time of hope and happiness because of the Ressurection.
    Blessings,

  11. Happy Easter! I have been reading your blog for the last year but this is the first time I've written. I always look forward to your emails with new posts and I love seeing your photos! I noticed the markings on one of your cats, Maya I think, and how unusual it looks. Is she a particular breed? I don't think I've ever noticed a cat that looks similar. I'm just curious but I wanted to check with you. I have one cat, Mary, and we have had her for 15 years. She's a calico Persian, an inside declawed cat, and our youngest baby. Enjoy your two week vacation. Cathy

    1. Hi Cathy. I'm delighted to hear you have followed me for such a long time! Thank you for dropping a line and making your voice heard or I wouldn't have known.
Izzy and Maya are sisters from the same lot and farm cats. I do suspect the male might have some Bengal blood as the markings are very typical for Bengal cats. My brother have two Bengals and they look just like Maya.
15 years is a long time to house a cat. I hope you will get a few more wonderful years together. They are so precious our pets, a part of our families. Annoying as hell at times but still so so loved!!! :)
      Happy Ester Cathy
