I love technology. When it works. I hate technology, when it doesn't. Right now I hate technology because my computer is a pain. It is slow. It crashes. And my iPhoto library is a disaster. I lost photos, managed to save them from my external hard drive but now the bloody editing features doesn't work.
I so wish I was a computer geek, understanding the zeros and ones, but I'm not. I'm just a user. I want my stuff to work. Flawlessly. But, right now I can't edit my photos. Right now I get phone calls and chats from all kids in the family on my phone because of some silly iCloud Family Sharing... And I just can't figure out how to fix it! Right now I can't launch my new website even if it is close to finished, because it is not synced to a mobile phone view!!!
It drives me bonkers. It takes so much time. And I want to do other things than spending support hours on my computer, like crochet time!!! It is important.
I have to figure it out. Or hire a geek of some kind to fix it all for me. Although I just had my computer re-installed and cleaned out a month ago. I just don't get it. Do you also get tech frustrated? How do you deal with it?

Terrible when technology doesn't work. It can be really frustrating. Hopefully your problems with your computer are solved quickly.
ReplyDeleteDear greetings, Margaret
Hi Annette
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on that one - when my computer breaks down I am sometimes close to tears as its so frustrating - I feel powerless as I haven't a clue what to do, I envy people with a computer geek in their family - it must save them a fortune. I am giggling at the thought of you hiring a computer geek "of some kind". I have just started your scrappy happy blanket and am loving it - pure colour therapy.

I feel your pain and frustrations with technology! It has always been a love hate relationship for me! If it's going to go wrong it always does when I'm at the helm. grrrrr Sorry no help from me but, good luck!
ReplyDeleteI understand you very well. A month ago I lost all the information I had in my pendrive and my laptop broke down. I lost two years work and haven't been able to recover anything. It was horrible!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes I find that stuff irritating!!! What do I do? I call my computer guy and pay him to straighten it all out!! Last time I bought a new computer :),
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I understand perfectly. The worst of it is, our middle son is a computer geek who lives 5 hours away from us so he can't fix our "stuff". I too, love it when it works and hate it when it doesn't. I hope you get everything taken care of soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I was once a computer geek and I am the mother of two computer geeks. Computers have rapidly passed me by since I retired 9 years ago but one thing that has not changed in the computer world is: " Always back up your important work, no exceptions." No "I will do it tomorrow", do it now! Computers are machines, computers break down. You always need to back up your work on a backup drive. Best thing I ever learned about computers.!
ReplyDeleteHow old is your computer? Is your memory maxed out? The more stuff you have on it, the slower it will run and maybe crash.
ReplyDeleteI sympathise, I too have a love/hate relationship with technology, everything is moving so fast. You just get used to something then you have to become an instant expert in an 'improvement', the advantage of which is somewhat of a mystery because it did what you wanted it to do before it improved. Hope this makes sense. I hope you get these issues sorted without too much further stress. Xx
ReplyDeleteI got warned by a friend who works for Apple that they are having a problem with iCloud servers which should be fixed by tomorrow. It caused people to lose photos from their library. Along with a bunch of other stuff. The good news is once everything fixed their customer care team should be able to retrieve anything that you have lost. It's just a pain in ass till then. X
ReplyDeleteComputerproblems are highly irritating! Been there done that. But ask yourself what is important! (family, health, food, shelter) See things in perspective. Take some crochet time because your computer problems will be there tomorrow too. And yes i know that you want to solve those problems NOW. Take a deep breath and relax.

I know, it can drive you bonkers can't it? I think the worst thing is the time it gobbles up! I used to quite like tinkering with these things but I simply don't have the time to spend on it these days!
