White tulips and sparkles

I'm thinking Instagram has to move to my blog. It is awfully quiet over here. So noisy over there. I can't even make my voice heard. Its like a cafeteria packed with people chatting, trays of coffee and lunches slamming... You know, that bzzzzzzzz sound... that noise that makes you rather tired as you need to raise your voice and strain your vocal cords to get your message through across the table. It is more quiet here. More time for reflection. A gentle laughter. Time to listen to a story being told. I sip my tea (not so much coffee anymore), I crochet (currently working with this beautiful yarn Mille Colori Socks & Lace Luxe from Lang - can you see it has sparkles???) and enjoying my first time ever WHITE tulips. I'm in love and I see many more white tulips bringing joy to my home in the near future. Perfect post Christmas flowers. I'm not ready for pink yet.

  1. I also prefer the quietness of a blog post. Reading the story behind a bunch of beautiful photos gives a different meaning to them. :-)
    Beautiful tulips, by the way!

  2. Instagram is a horror at times. You're right, it's lovely and peaceful here. White tulips and sparkling yarn. Happy sigh. I know what you mean about not being ready for pink yet. After Christmas I like white and dark green and a little candlelight on crystal. Like nature, I think we need a rest from all the colour and the noise. CJ xx

Have a pleasant day, with a nice cup of tea and crocheting, Margaret

  6. Absolutely prefer the peace and quiet of a blog. Yours is particularly calm, thank you. I love tulips at this time of year. I am always ready for pink :-) I don't think I have seen beautiful white tulips in the shops for a long time. Must check next time I leave the house. x

  8. Beautiful! The moment I saw the blue shawl (it looks like you are making a shawl to me) and the white tulips, I took a deep breath and relaxed. What is that beautiful stitch you are doing?

  9. I prefer blogs. I slow down and take the time to read them. Instagram is just flick, flick, flick. I don't like that, and it makes me feel stressed. Give me a good blog any day!

  10. I love the light play on the middle image. I'm a sucker for tulips post Christmas, yellow being my favourite, but the white ones against that beautiful yarn are stunning.

  11. Oh this made me smile to read. Once again we are in tune, I feel exactly the same lately! Those tulips are beautiful. Freh flowers make such a difference, I should get some once in a while.

  13. What beautiful yarn you're using for your new shawl! I love the colour. I like blogs too - and could never get settled in Instagram, just not my cup of tea! I do notice though that there are less people who visit my blog these days because so many people are going over to Instagram for the instant image gratification and to get as many hearts as possible! I still jog along on my blog, even if people don't take the trouble to leave comments, I still see them visit!!

  15. Honestly, the reason I rarely comment on blogs is because I usually read them on my phone, and it's really hard to comment from a phone! Also, I hate having to sign in to an account to make a comment. However, Instagram's algorithm has gotten so irritating lately, I think I need to make more of an effort to comment on blogs again! Your projects look beautiful... but lace! Goodness! Do they take forever? I'm knitting a pair of socks using Schoppel Wolle Ambiente (I'm obsessed with that yarn because it's a dream to work with), and knitting takes me forever, so I imagine it's like crocheting with lace-weight yarn (which I've never done because apparently I have a need for quicker gratification?). My wonderful grandmother just sent me a heap of Browns Sheep Company Lambs Pride Worsted, so another blanket is in my near future! - Kelley (a.k.a. alpinebelle on Insta)

    1. BRAVO Kelley! Great effort on leaving a message. THANK YOU! I know, we are all glued to our phones these days... reading on them, surfing on them. chatting on them. I hardly ever use the phone function itself to be honest. But, sayring that, I prerfer reading blogs by my computer. It is easier to comment and interact that way. So I take 15 minutes here and there and read a blog. It works.
Regarding the Mille Colori yarn, it is actually a 4ply. Just called lace. I'm working it on a hook 4mm so it's not that bad. It is the same pattern as for the original Olivia Shawl but it is for sure taking longer... I need to add quite a few rows to it as well. It will be a great inside shawl wrap though. Light and sparkly. Loving it! Thanks again for popping in Kelley. See you around.

  17. We love that you are back, so we can join you with a cup of tea and chat. I am not on Instagram although I think the entire world is, for me blogging is like a nice friendship you get to know each other slowly and therefore learn to care about each other too. Have a good weekend.

  18. I'm so ready for spring flowers on my kitchen table! Our stores are selling them now and I do believe a plant or 2 needs to come home!

  19. I have enjoyed reading your blog through the years. I agree with others that it IS more relaxing to read a blog with the entire backstory than just a photo with only a hint of the story behind it. I am considering blogging again as I have just let my blog sit for the past few years. Miss the busy blogging days of 4 years ago or so. The new year has come and gone so quickly and my resolution to blog has not taken hold yet. Maybe soon! Best wishes to you and all your projects. I am inspired to warm up my crochet hook!
