Storm and crochet

It is crazy windy here. I hear on the radio (Swedish Radio that is) that it is crazy windy in Sweden too. Lots of snow and trees blowing down, blocking roads. Airplanes that can't take off, snow removal services not being able to keep up with the wind and snow. What about you? Is it windy where you live too? Is the big storm passing your home as well? Instagram is not all bad (reflecting upon all my criticism to the platform lately...), it is lots of fun too. Like seeing these lovely snowy pictures popping up in my feed, adding visual exposure to the storm that is currently over Scandinavia. Just look at that, I mean - Wow! That is lots of snow.

They say snow is expected here in Switzerland this weekend too. It is actually snowing right now. It is not much but it is consistent... It doesn't look like it is gonna stop any time soon so at the end of the day we might have lots of snow here also. I better get those snow boots out again. Gloves and hats in order. I'm actually looking forward to shoveling snow and walking on white grounds. The rain is kind of depressing. Grey, grey, grey. Cold, cold, cold. Dark, dark, dark. But with snow everything lit up. I'm ready for it. Snow dear snow, please make my home ground beautiful.

While waiting and anticipating the big storm, the cats are running in and out through the windows not knowing if they want to stay outside or inside... I guess they can sense something is going on. I'm working on the pattern of my latest shawl design, the saffron colored shawl. I will call it The Olivia's Shawl. Just because it feels like a Olivia shawl. With flowers and all. You know, like when a baby is born and you thought it would be an Isabella but no... It was a Nelly. You know.

All notes are in place. Just pictures left to do. And some proof reading. Testing. I better get going before the kids are tumbling in through the door. After that nothing gets done but homework, dinner and shuttle service to activities. Wish me luck. Oh, and stay cozy and warm. Wherever you are. I am.

    1. Hi Anny
That sounds cuddly and nice. Maybelle squares... Enjoy and give doggy a cuddle from me. That wind is nasty!

  5. Wind here too, and rain, but no snow. I don't mind the grey gloom, it makes it all the more delicious inside. Love the new shawl, I shall look forward to seeing it. CJ xx

  6. We've had 129 inches of snow so far. But I live where we get lots of lake effect snow. And I love it because I love to cross-country ski! Is that pink yarn Scheppjes? What's the colorway? It looks like a lovely ball of yarn. - Kelley/alpinebelle

    1. HI Kelley
Scheppjes Stone washed, colorway 808. More of a pinkish purple I would say. Lovely yarn, a tiny bit to heavy for the Olivia Shawl I find... Just slightly... But it is super to work with. I can imagine it being perfect for hats, scarves and such.

  8. My! I love your blog ~ reading about life on the other side of the world. I live in Mississippi, and we had 2 inches of snow this week, and everything shut down! No school, no work, no restaurants! We don’t often have snow so there’s no equipment to clear the roads. The sun is out today and it’s above freezing so life will get back to normal for us soon.

  9. Hi there! Rhonda (Down to Earth) mentioned that she had enjoyed your post this week so I hopped over to check it out, and I'm so glad I did. Your crochet is beautiful, love the tassels, especially.
    Have a great weekend!

  11. Hello Annette,
It’s hot, hot, hot over here on the south eastern side of Australia. 36degrees centigrade in fact. So it’s good weather to stay inside until the cool of the evening.
I love your shawl. I feel shawls look and feel very feminine. Can a lady have too many shawls!!!!!!
The snow looks beautiful and though I no longer live in an area where it occasionally snows, I do remember how peaceful the country feels and actually sounds when it snows.
Enjoy your snow and take care if your need to be on the roads at this time.
    Blessings Gail.
