Tomatoes

There are green ones.

There are yellow.

There are red ones

ripe and mellow.

Heavy and many

dangling in bunches.

The green ones are tasty

but firm so they crunches.

Poor weak stems

are almost breaking.

We need to support them

to save them from aching.

Tie them down gently

with cotton strips.

Tight and careful

to the supporting sticks.

Tomatoes so many

in shapes and in sizes.

We cook them, we bake them

we cut them in slices.

So sweet and so warm

kissed by the sun.

Deliscious and juicy

sliced on a bread bun.

With extra virgin olive oil

some salt and pepper.

I don't think a tomato

could taste any better.
