Pretty, pink and girly baby quilt VOILA

Another baby is about to be welcomed to this world in June. It is a girl I have been told, and the becoming Grandma Maggi says pink will be the color of indulgence for this first grandchild's appearance.

When Maggi came to my desk at work, whispering her hope for me to make a patchwork baby blanket for this baby, she also mentioned it has to be really girly. Prettiness overload as much as we can take. I think I have managed pretty well meeting her needs, what do you think? I bought the fabric a while ago from SewDeerlyLoved on ETSY. I love this set of pink.

Making patchwork baby blankets is one of my favorite things to do. Choosing the fabric, cutting relatively large squares like these 6 inch squares, play them out on my design board in a nice and even design, piecing the squares carefully in rows and then match points when piecing the rows together. I am doing better and better at matching those points, although there are always a few awry ones adding to the perfect imperfection of a handmade creation.

This quilt is not quilted, just backed with a cuddly cream white fleece for the ultimate cuddle factor. It makes the quilt less stiff and easy to wash and dry quickly between use. A perfect little quilt for the push chair or a baby nap on in the cot, on the sofa, on floor underneath the baby gym when they suddenly pass out from stimulation exhaustion. :D

As Maggi is one of my colleagues that were laid off earlier this year I am adding a matching little Maybelle Crochet Garland to her baby quilt as a farewell gift.

Now I am back to crochet and the making of a few more Maybelle Crochet Flowers before putting them all together on a crochet string.

Hope your Sunday is a calm and quiet one. The weather is rather grey here and I have caught a bad cold... Feeling a bit under the water actually. As promised Ia m working on a tutorial for my mini flower. Soon to come.

Happy Sunday Saturday!

Kärlek Annette

  4. You are a lovely friend to make the extra garland. I love the fabric of the quilt, very pinkish! Have you tried the flowers with a different colored center? I have been thinking of making some, the pattern has been copied and I have it in my to do pile? Just wondering you thoughts about them.

    1. Hi Dana
How do you know my friend...??? Now I suddenly got very curious... Have I missed something here? I thought you lived in the States... Maybe I got it all completely wrong. Well, anyways. Quickly and quickly. Actually, ones you have picked your fabric and cut your squares the rest goes very smoothly. I can easily whip up a baby quilt like this in a few hours but very seldom do I have a few hours in a row to play... So I take 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there and in a week or two a quilt is done.
      Happy Saturday

    1. Hi Hannapat
Thank you for visiting. I think I bought the pins at a local yarn shop a couple of years ago but I have seen them on Amazon.co.uk as well. I am sure will find them on ETSY as well. Good luck.
      Happy Saturday
