Inspiration hits in growing pain

Picture left from here. Picture right from here.

He woke up with enormous pain in his feet. Crying and almost falling in through our bedroom door. I went from deep sleep to wide awake in a second, like a mother does in situations like this, no matter what time in the day or night it may be. He sobbed and squirmed in his bed while I was preparing the medicine cup, and then he gulped the medicine in a whim. Desperate for it to take away the pain. I softly massaged his feet and legs and we waited for the medicine to do its job...

Growing pain. Do you remember? I remember... I remember counting the minutes for the medicine to kick in as the pain was so bad. In my knees... that was the worst pain. A cutting, throbbing, splitting pain... A pain that just would not go away by itself.

A few minutes later Luca Bo lays down to fall back asleep and tells me:
"Mama."
"Mmmm..."
"I had this terrible dream."
"Oh yea?"
" Yes. I dreamt I had to solve everyone's problems..."
"Oh dear. That IS a terrible dream. Lucky us it was only a dream. Good night my love."

He had already fallen back asleep now. I tip toed back into bed thinking about his terrible dream and actually how terrible it would be if it was true... Poor thing, no wonder he thought it was a night mare.

For a good 45 minutes or so I tossed and turned as I now suddenly got struck by a million ideas of how to pimp our bathroom. I visualized how to turn our old beautiful vintage dresser into a sink in the bathroom... It shouldn't be to difficult. I just have to cut a hole in the back for the pipes and one at the top for the sink, paint it with waterproof varnish. And then I would like to crochet a round bathroom mat from old vintage sheets... And maybe add a bunting and sew on some trim to white fresh towels. Shall I go for light creamy blue or maybe aqua green... Or just greek blue and white? Or maybe naturals... When one person is in growing pain, another person  is hit by inspiration... These things always happen at night... I think it is supposed to be that way.

Happy Tuesday all.

  4. I don't remember what growing pains feel like thankfully, I see how painful it is for my kids :( I hate when it happens! My son has a lot of growing pains lately, he can't seem to stop growing, I'm about to put him in the same size clothes as his 7 year old sister (he's 5).

  6. Stackars liten.

:) No må eg berre finne eit vakkert bord/kommode først :) Vintage, of course ;)
    Klem frå Noreg :)

  10. Do it so it do it! I have one like that, in my book-toilet! I love it, I'm even going to take it with me when we move house the end of the year.
Will think of a way to show you.

  11. Ah, I pinned it!
You can just make it out in the left-hand corner of the photo, it's in an awkward corner of that tiny room :-)

  12. Hugs to you, I've had similar situations in this house lately with my oldest gal, cuddles and empathy help them so much as they wait for the medicine to kick in...and I keep a notebook on my bedside table for those middle-of-the-night inspirations, I have them too! Can't wait to see your lovely loo! Chrissie x

  13. Godness, I don't remember ever having growing pains like that! I'm glad I read this because if Little Miss has something similar now I won't totally freak out! Ahh, how I can relate to his nightmare though. Someone who has to solve everyone else problems - welcome to Motherhood! ;)

    Beautiful pics too btw!

  14. Ohhh, I remember those growing pains so well! My mum used to rub an ointment on my legs, I can recall its strong, eucalyptus smell. And I remeber crying in pain. And all of it for nothing! I'm only 5ft1" :-)))))

I finished your Nordic Shawl and linked your Etsy shop in my blog post - hope you don't mind :-)
I'm going to Scotland today evening and I'm definitely taking my new shawl with me. It is sooo warm, and soft I cannot stop myself from touching it. I omitted three rounds before I started the border, because of my rather small frame, but I can wrap it around me like a blanket! Thank you once again for beautifully written pattern!
