A day of elegance, and now she is T E N

This one is for you, my love

Look at her in that dress. It was A Day Of Elegance in school. All students were asked to dress nice and elegant. Emmy Bo choose this dress that we bought in Sweden last year. It was her favorite dress when you all were in Miami and on the Bahamas cruise at New Years. I never saw her in that dress that time...

The dress was ripped in the back and it has been stacked in the "repair" pile for months... The day before the big day I got around to repair it. I dusted off the sewing machine and got to work. It was tricky as the fabric is so delicate and rips easily, but I did it. And my oh my how pretty she is in this dress.

She chose to put up her blond hair in a bun. Hair tightly slicked back in contrast to her normally wild mane of curls dancing around her smiley face. Somehow your features show more when she has her hair tied back like this. I can see your freckles, your pepper corn eyes, your facial expression and poses... Chin up and big smile. So you.

My favorite photos are when she puts on her  Converse before heading off to school. "Converse??? You don't want to wear your sandals? I asked. But no, Emmy Bo said that sandals would look too nice. With Converse she would feel more comfortable. As the wild flower she is and always will be. Our lovely little, now 10 year old, girl. Time flies...

PS A big THANK YOU for all your sweet response on my previous post on different platforms and in private messages. I'm deeply touched and although I haven't responded in person to each and every one of you, I want you to know that I read every single word and feel the cyber love you're sending. Just Thank you. You rock.

  1. What a beautiful girl, your Emmy Bo.
And the combination of the Converse and the dress, gorgeious.
Our daughter (19) does the same, and I quite like it.
Most of all that they make their own choises.

    1. Hi Jeanette
Thank you! And I so agree with you. The best thing about these wild flower kids are that they make their own choices... Makes it easier for the further on in life when they hopefully won't let themselves be pushed around or influenced in a bad direction. Trust that feeling. :)
      Thanks for visiting.
      Xx

  5. Yes, you have a beautiful daughter! But she's going to grow up to be a stunning young woman! The photo of her at the sink! Wow, that profile! I like the dressy with the hi-tops and my daughter (29) is still doing it at times! Ah, youth!
