It feels like coming home - Thank You!

Weather has switched to cold, cold, cold and chilly northern winds. The first thing I did this morning was putting my sports wear on to encourage myself to take that morning walk, even if the weather was bad. I hesitated, then I switched those thoughts and walked outside anyway. I'm so happy I did!

Our brains are such powerful tools. I can decide if going pessimistic or optimistic. It is not easy. It needs focus and concentration every day and in every situation of doubt, but in Corona isolation I've decided to really work on switching my negative thoughts to something positive and push myself into action even though I would prefer to sink in to becoming a couch potato with hook and yarn in hand in front of some Netflix series with some comfort nibbles at hand. Instead I've decided to take that walk or run, do that dull house chore or take on a small project that's been pushed aside forever first to then deserve the time to play, which in my case would be crochet, read, have a coffee, lay a puzzle, play some cards, listen to a podcast, hang out with the kids or just have a moment to myself. That way I keep my mind clear and avoid falling into the blues.

Anyway, I'm rambling. What I really wanted to say was a big THANK YOU and give you all a warm, fussy and loving big HUG. I'm so surprised to see so many of you still being with me in my little cyber space. I'm so so THANKFUL to still be a part of the blog community, even if my blog has been on the back burner for quite some time (years...). It feels like coming home to what it once was, a place where we can share, chat, connect through thoughts and situations similar to our own, give advice, encourage and just say a simple Hi as we sit with our coffees in front of the screen in places spread around the world. Even though we are far apart we do come together right here in my Happy Place and that feels like winning a million bucks! I read every comment, see every heart and appreciate so much you taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings in my commenting field and with emails (I've heard that commenting can be hard at times... just send me an email!). I try my best to reply to you all in my commenting field primarily and once again THANK YOU for brighten up my days by popping in and cheering me up. It's very special to know that you take that precious slice of time of your busy agendas to visit me and leave a trail. From my heart to yours - sending lots of love. Peace in - Peace out!

  1. I'm sending you a very big, warm hug Annette! As I'm laid off from work I'm going to dig out my stash of wool and make blankets again, trying to stay positive. I'm so stressed, my other half is an anaesthetist, working in a busy Leeds hospital. I fear for him, not for myself.I hope crocheting will ease my worries... Anyway, thank you for writing your blog again, thank you for your positivity and love. Stay safe!

    1. Dear Daisy
I just got a message from another reader, Lucy, who tried to reply to your comment without success. I suspect she wants to a knowledge your fear and send you some encouragement and comfort hugs just like I do. I totally get it. It must be nerve wrecking for you having your husband "out on the field". Health workers are our new soldiers, I bow in purest admiration for their courage and perseverance, bravery and ability to save lives and fight against our invisible enemy. Pick up your hook and yarn and just get started with whatever stitch that soothes your mind. It is really the best stress relief and therapy. Thinking of you. Thanks for visiting today.

    2. Thank you Annette, thank you Lucy! All we can do is wait and see what is going to happen. We cannot predict the outcome, so your advice to pick up my hook and do something productive to occupy my mind is the best advice ever. I might do another nordic shawl or maybelle flower blanket, or just a massive stash of grannies :-))) I must stay positive just for Matt's sake and for my mental wellbeing. We were looking forward to our wedding in October, but now everything is on hold...I know we'll pull through, I hope we will. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  3. Hi Annette,
I'm sending you a really big hug back from The Netherlands. I'm quite curious about how other countries are dealing with this pandemic and how the people living there are doing so. So it's nice to read your stories and connect with each other. This is such a great platform to connect to other people and I always feel so thankfull for the support you get through the internet. 1. Hi Emily
Yaaay! I'm so glad to reconnect with all of my readers. I think we all long for a place where we can connect online right now and yes, we want to hear about how other people deal with the stress, the practicalities and attempts to keep their lives as normal as it can be. I'll keep that in mind and will try to implement it more on my blog if I can. Maybe a Share Your Life day of the week or so. Will be interesting.

  5. I am so happy that you are posting again. I look forward to reading your blog posts. I too try to get out and walk every day. Exercise is good to keep away the "bug" and the sunshine is also great in that aspect as well. I love seeing pictures of your beautiful garden and landscape. We are all in this together!

  6. Hi Annette! I so much prefer Blog;and to IG, it's all too fast and instant over there. We're prepping and counting down to lockdown Thursday night - but we were expecting it, actually already all ready and mostly home. We'll go for a last cycle ride each day and will then settle for shuttle runs in the garden! I just did my first Pilates class via Zoom - going to have to make some changes to my "studio"...that space between my bed and the dresser :-D All the best to you and yours.

    1. Hi Stel
You always told me blogs are your go to... Thanks for hanging around even though I've been very silent.
Good to hear that you all are prepared for lock down. We prepared long before it was a fact and now I'm so pleased that we did. At the time (beginning of March) it seemed a bit silly maybe but now I'm just happy we took action early. Things I did miss out on before lock down was getting printing paper and color cartridges... Now having 3 kids doing school from home and printing exercises every day I really need to stock up a bit on these products. No office supply stores are open anymore so I have ordered online. Hope it will be here soon.
Tale care, stay calm and good luck rearranging your studio for your Pilates classes. Sounds like a great thing to do. I'm doing Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. I actually wrote a blog post about it last night that I will share with you soon. Take care Stel! See you around.
