Country shirt make over

I am a country girl. If we ever move to the States again I will for sure become the real cowgirl. Hanging out on the rodeos in cowboy boots, hat, checked shirts and worn out jeans. And with highlights in my hair. Well the truth is I already am a little bit of all that. So when I found this shirt in my closet I just couldn't throw it out (although I don't like the fit anymore). Instead I decided to do a make over. (Excuse my bad photos, I was to excited to take my time for good shots...)

Jag är en riktig country-tjej. Om vi nånsin skulle återvända till USA så skulle jag helt klart bli en riktig cowgirl. Hänga på rodeos i cowboyboots och hatt med rutiga bomullsskjortor och slitna jeans. Och med ljusa slingor i håret. Nu råkar det ju vara som så att jag är lite av allt det där redan och när jag hittade den här gamla skjortan i garderoben (som jag egentligen inte gillar formen på längre) så kunde jag bara inte slänga bort den. Istället bestämde jag mig för att göra en make over.

Jag klippte av kragen och ärmarna och gjorde en V-ringning i fram. 

Opened my drawer with some lace trims in and found a couple that worked perfect for my project.

Hittade lite spetsband i en låda somvisade sig passa perfekt för mitt lilla projekt och så satte jag igång. 

And, VOILA! Here it is. My new sleeveless country top. Totally different from the original and I am very satisfied with my first clothing make over ever. There will be more to come, be so sure.


Och VOILA! Här är den. Mitt nya bluslinne med spets. Helt olik originalet och jag är supernöjd med mitt första garderob-make over. Det kommer att bli fler make-overs, var så säker.

About me & crochet crises

Hi everyone! I thought I would introduce myself to all my new followers (and old ones for that matter). I am really thrilled to have you here and all your nice comments are really flattering and makes me feel incredibly happy! Thank you all.

So this is me. Annette. 41 this year (yeeeeeaaaaay! my soul will never be a day older than 24!). I am Swedish and moved abroad 9 years ago when I met my American husband Jay in the Seychelles (of all places in the world - yes!).

I am a previous "everything" (shop assistant, bakery hostess, delivery woman, graphic designer, window displayer, business owner...) and I have been a stay at home mum for 9 years. I just got back to work 60% this year. And it is working really good.

I started crochet in September 2009 and I am "hooked" ever since. I love it! And I love following other crochet blogs to educate myself, find inspiration and to just smudge myself around in colour puddles.

We live in a magical place in the countryside of Switzerland. This is the front of my house.

This is my garden and I call the back of the house my own "Little house on the praire" (if you remember that show about the Ingalls familly :D!).

We grow vegetables (picture is from last year, we haven't got this far yet...).

And we are surrounded by beautiful mountains, having all top shot ski resorts (Verbier, Charmonix, Gstaad, Zermatt, St Moritz, Les Portes de Soleil to mention some) within 90 minutes drive.

We have two cute cats, Charlie (yellow) and Lola (mix). And we are thinking of adding a little friendly dog to the family picture... But I am not so sure. Afraid of the commitment I think. Any advice?

Right now I am having a bit of a crochet crisis. I just can't find "the flow". I bought a batch of cotton yarn last week but can't find the right project for it. I have tried out different blocks, colour combos. I even started on a blanket... But nahhh.

And then I  took out my wool basket. And something inside of me woke up. So soft, snuggly and pretty.

Look at how different these squares are from the others (or maybe it is only me...) So maybe it is the new yarn that is putting me off. Because the cotton is so different to work with. Not as flexible and elastic as the wool. More... hard? Beautiful of course but different.

So maybe I just dig back into my wool basket and make another pillow case from my softie, cuddly wool yarn. Just to see where it takes me...

Walk in the woods

Another pillow

VOILA! Another goey, mushy, puffy, squishy, cuddly pillow has made its arrival to my home. Pattern was found through a link at Attic24 at Bella Dias blog. Really easy. Incredibly quick. Kind of a lazy pattern...

VOILA! Ännu en gosig, mysig, puffig, kramgo kudde har funnits sin väg in till mitt hem. Mönstret hittade jag genom en länk hos Attic24, hos Bella Dia. Väldigt enkelt. Otroligt snabbt jobbat. Ett mönster för lata stunder.

You actually work treble crochet stitches straight through but make them in between stitches instead of through the loops. Kind of like a single stitched granny pattern.

Man jobbar bara med stolpar rakt igenom men lägger dom emellan stolparna istället för i maskorna. Lite som ett mormorsstolpemönster fast enkla stolpar liksom (om dte nu "make sence"...).

I hand stitched the ready crochet piece on to the pillow case like this.

Den färdiga virkade delen handsydde jag fast på kuddfodralet så här.

So now I got my collection of home made pillows piled up.

Så nu har jag mina hemgjorda kuddar samlade på hög.

I am very happy with the make  over from this...

Jag är otroligt nöjd med förändringen från detta...

...to this. Don't you agree that this is so much more fun and pretty?

... till detta. Visst är det här är så mycket roligare och finare?

And if the sun comes out I might just sit down right there in the garden and hook away a bit on my new project.

Och om solen behagar komma fram så  kanske jag sätter mig precis här i min trädgård och virkar lite på mitt nya projekt.

Baby girl 3rd birthday

So, all babies are gone now. Baby girl just turned three. Acts like a five year old. Thinks she is 14. But still she is "only" three. And no baby anymore.

Så var alla bebisar borta. Puts väck! Lillan har just fyllt tre. Beter sig en femåring. Tror att hon är 14. Men hon är "bara" tre. Och ingen bebis längre.

She turned one!

Hon fyllde ett!

She turned two.

Hon fyllde två.

I miss having babies, but no I am not getting any funny ideas on having a number four. Three is a handful. Enjoyable. Fantastic. Chaotic. Dramatic. And perfect.

Jag saknar att ha bebisar i huset. Nej nej nej, jag har inga planer på att skaffa en nummer fyra! Tre är tillräckligt. Njutbart. Fantastiskt. Kaotiskt. Dramatiskt. Och perfekt. 

 So Happy Birthday my dear little baby Emmy. You are a big girl now. And she enjoyed the centre of attention day very VERY much!

Så "Ja må hon leva" och "Hurra Hurra Hurra" min kära lilla Emmy. Du är en stor tjej nu. Och hon njöt i fulla drag av all uppmärksamhet hela långa dagen.

I love you my little suger pie!

Yarn spree - yippi!

Some people might go on fashion shopping sprees, have 50 pair of shoes and the latest from the fashion magazines in their wardrobes. Not me. I am far from a fashion icon. I have about 3 pairs of shoes and dress in jeans and T-shirt 9 times out of 10... So, what do I shop for on my shopping spree?

Vissa går ut och shoppar modekläder, har 50 par skor och det senaste modet hängandes i garderoben hemma. Inte jag. Jag är långt ifrån trendig. Jag har typ 3 par skor och klär mig i jeans och T-shirt 9 gånger av 10... Så vad shoppar jag?

I go for yarn! This time a dear collection of 21 different colours of cotton yarn. I told you I needed to fill up my shell space again. I am soooooo happy and excited!

Jag shoppar garn!!! Den här gången blev det en kär samling av bomullsgarn i inte mindre än 21 olika färger. Jag sa ju att jag behöver fylla upp min garnhylla igen. Jag är så pirrig och glad!

PS Jag tror jag behöver lite mer rosa och rött. Antar att jag behöver köpa några nystan till. :D

My crochet corner...

I visited Min Inspiration and went on a tour at MiA's creative space not long ago... It was really fun and inspiring! So I thought I would invite you to my crochet corner here at home. Join the tour! And I would love to come and visit your space too... Challange?

Jag hälsade på hos Min Inspiration och gick på rundtur hos MiA och hennes kreativa hörna för inte så länge sen. Det var riktigt kul och inspirerande! Och nu bjuder jag in dig på en rundtur hos mig och min virkhörna. Kom med! Och jag skulle gärna hälsa på hos dig med... Utmaning?

Right there in the corner of my sofa is where I hook away the most.

Där, i hörnet på min soffa sitter jag och virkar mest.

This is the accurate project basket. Full of different yarn and a few trials and projects, the square is a try out, the ripple is  astart on a baby blanket but I am not sure I want to finish it. I might use another pattern... And the red and blue stripy thing is another Hexagon Baby Cardigan in progress... I am not sure when I will finish it but I better do it soon as the baby ment for this cardigan is growing fast...

Det här är min lilla korg med dom projekt som pågår just nu. En liten rundruta som jag provat på, början på en babyfilt som jag kanske repar upp eftersom jag hittat ett nytt mönster som verkar spännande... Och den där blå och rödrandiga saken är ännu en Hexagon Baby Kofta... Men jag är osäker på när jag kommer att slutföra det projektet också fast jag får nog skynda på eftersom bebisen som ska få den växer fort. 

I always keep a project or two in my Cath Kidston crochet bag. It makes it easy to take along every time a leave the house. And I hardly ever leave the house without my Kidston bag, just in case I get a minute to hook away. 

Jag har alltid ett par projekt i min Cath Kidston virkväska. Det gör det så enkelt att ta med lite virkning sßå fort jag lämnar huset. Och jag går nästan aldrig utanför dörren utan min Kidston-väska. Man vet ju aldrig när man får tillfälle att sitta ner och virka några varv.

I have collected my thread ends in a zip lock, but I like MiA's way of collecting them in a pretty glass jar better. Got to find a glass jar. And I don't have a clue what I should do with the yarn ends, they are just to pretty to throw away...


Jag har samlat mina garnändar i en zip lock påse, men jag gillar MiAs idé om att samla dom i en söt glasburk bättre. Så nu måste jag hitta en glasburk. Jag har inte en aning om vad jag ska göra med alla garnändar eller varför jag sparar dom, dom är bara alldeles för fina för att slänga bort...

This is where I store my yarn right now. Not very inspiring or pretty at all... Short of yarn... A reason to shop til I drop in the near future. :D Can't wait!!!!


Så här förvarar jag mina garner just nu. Varken inpirerande eller fint... Dåligt med garn... En anledning att gå ut på stor shopping spree snart. :D Jag kan knappt bärga mig...

But soon it will all look all nice and yummy! This furniture piece has been a WiP for quite some time. I wrote about it last summer, here and here, stripped it down, sanded it and now I am waiting for a sunny and warm weekend to put some paint on it, dress it with some boxpaper and fill it up with all my goodies.


Men snart så kommer det se riktigtmumsigt och fint ut! Den här möbeln har varit ett projekt under ganska lång tid nu. Jag skrev om den förra sommaren, här och här, då jag lutade av den och slipade ner den. Nu väntar jag bara på en varm och solig helg så att jag klan måla den, klä den med lite hyllpapper och fylla upp den med alla mina godsaker.

And right there on the wall in my garden I photograph my creations to get the best day light. Or on the bencj, or on the table outside our little shed.


Och här på muren i min trädgård fotar jag mina kreationer föra tt få det bästa dagsljuset. Eller på bänken eller på bordet utanför lilla skjulet.

I hope you enjoyed my tour. Now I am going to sit down in my crochet corner, LISTEN to some TV and get my daily crochet injection...
