Izzy

She is back at the window but this time with a little bit of a troubled appearance. There has been complications from the surgery Wednesday. She is in pain. I have just been to the vet and he explained that she is suffering form a small inflammation in her stomach, a reaction to the surgery. Last night I was really worried as she didn't eat, drink or wanted to move at all. She just laid there totally apathetic. She had trouble walking, moved her legs in slow motion, and couldn't jump up on chairs or sofas...

I didn't sleep so good. When my kids or my cats are sick I turn on this radar and won't sleep. I got up at 4am to chek on Izzy and she was still in the same position as I left her the day before. I tried to give her some water, helped her to her toilet, but she just crawled underneath the sofa and hid there. I realized that I couldn't help her so I left one of my crocheted blankets out on the floor for her to cuddle up on and went back to bed. I tossed and turned for a good hour before falling back into a light and worrying sleep.

Today we have been to the vet and she seem a bit better. She has eaten, she is moving slowly and she has been to the toilet. We will observe her for the weekend and go back for a control again next week...

All the worries we carry around on a daily basis. If it isn't the worry for our own souls, our family or our kids, it is our pets...

Izzy looks at me quietly, turns her head and let her eyes wonder over the garden through the window. She wants to get out there but for right now inside is best. Until things are better. She will recover quickly. She is a fighter. I know she will.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear Izzy isn't feeling well. These pictures are beautiful. I love her eyes, so expressive. And you're right, we don't sleep well when our children or pets are sick. I'm the same way. I'm praying is she will make a fast recovery.
    Blessings, Betsy

  2. Wishing her a speedy recovery. Sometimes animals can find things in nature that helps heal them, maybe a supervised outing might do her good. Wishing you restful nights ahead.

  3. Dear One, Like you say there is always something to be concerned about. But our fur babies have a unique place in our individual universes. I will be sending special thoughts and healing energy to Izzy and all under your rooftop. I always enjoy your blog and your beautiful crochet handwork. Blessings.

  5. A sick cat gives a lot of worries. A cat is like a child for us. It feels terrible when you see the cat suffer and you can do nothing for her. Hopefully she will recover fast.

    Dear greetings, Margaret

  7. My little tabby cat looks quite a lot like your lovely Izzy. When she was spayed she also had problems but not the same thing. She hurt where her stitches were, and it was very sad to see her literally trying to run away from the pain. Fortunately it didn't last so long and she was soon okay again. Izzie's problems seem more serious but we have to trust in the vet and it seems like something that just needs a little extra time to heal. If she has an infection then I expect she has been given antibiotics which will be doing their job. I am glad she shows signs of improvement.

It is very upsetting when anyone in the family is unwell and that includes our pets. We never want them to be in pain or suffering in anyway but sadly that can't be. I am sure your lovely Izzie will be out and about scampering around very soon. I do hope so. In the meantime I am sure she feels loved and taken care of.

Hope you get some sleep and try not to worry. I am sure she will be fine.

  9. Izzy is a beautiful cat! I also have an Izzy. She was rescued on a dirt road where coyotes would certainly have gotten her. She has the same beautiful green eyes and markings, but her feet & belly are white. She is named after a dear Norsk friend, because they both love everyone they meet! I hope your sweet Izzy gets better soon.

  15. My daughter has recently had her kitty neutered and she too was feeling very sorry for herself, not surprisingly as it is quite major surgery for them. She made her comfortable in their spare room, with her food, water and litter tray, so that no one would disturb her. She stayed there for two or three days before she really wanted to venture out but she gradually got back to her normal self. Hope Izzy is back to her beautiful self very soon too x

  19. Hi Annette,
I can relate to your feelings. When we got Floortje, my cat, she went to a cat hotel when we went on vacation. She was 4 or 5 months and when she got back she was really really sick. The Vet saved her with water in an infuse and everything and now she is 4 years old already. I really hope Izzy will recover, but I think it will be allright with an owner like you ;-). Keep faith and don't worry :-).

    Sweet greetings,
    Emily
